Relaxing in the Tuileries and Concert at the Ste-Chapelle

The first picture (Rue de Rivoli, taken from a stationary vélo) is to show how Paris has made the streets more welcoming to bicyclists.

We strolled this morning through the Tuileries gardens and then headed to a special exhibit on the Jewish children deported from Paris during the second world war at the Hotel de Ville. It commemorates the 50th anniversary of Vel d'Hiv, the mass forcible evacuation of Parisian Jews to the Vélodrome d'Hiver on July 17th 1942. It was all in French, and we found it a bit sanitized, but still very sad. Impressive to see the level of acknowledgment of France's role in the extermination of European Jews.

After a late charcuterie lunch at home, we headed to a Vivaldi concert at Ste-Chapelle. A great way to beat the lines to see the chapel. Nice concert (Four Seasons), although not a world class performance. The photograph only shows the right side of the chapel as the left side is undergoing restoration.
