Day 1 report
Day 1 report - from Susan via 'en's email since my blog address is not working for some reason. We are tired of course but had fun. Everything went according to plan in finding our breakfast place - sorry, too dazed and tired to remember to take photos - and in getting all iPads operational with Icelandic Sim cards. James and I went to the ATM but faulty directions meant ab 8 block walk in pretty brisk weather while Sara and Ken snoozed in the car. Then off to the Bridge between the Continents and the pedestrian bridge than spans the European and North American plates. We were the only people around. You wouldn't want to get a flat tire somewhere like that in the middle off nowhere in Iceland...oh, wait a minute - we did that last time. Think we will take a pass this time.
Then off to more sulphurous boiling mud and steam vents - always a good time, a stop for Fitness Popcorn (one of our major Icelandic food groups), water and skyr and then the drive through the lava fields to the Ranga Hotel. Hot tubbing all round but so cold we had to wear our hats!
Now having a pre-dinner duty free scotch and off for dinner. We'll try to remember to post photos.#
